Lesson Plan
The attached Lesson Plan can be used to study Wants vs. Needs within the topic of Immigration. The main objectives of this lesson are for the students to determine the differences between wants and needs in relationship to what immigrants are able to bring with them and what they have to leave behind. Another main objective for the students is that they will develop personal connections to the items that immigrants have brought and are able to evaluate their own lives to decide what they would bring.
The activity that corresponds with this lesson plan is that students will be developing their own shoebox suitcase models of an immigrants suitcase. They will also produce their own description explaining specifically what is included in their shoebox suitcase and why.
